【2025年7月4日〜13日開催】シリア写真展「SYRIA. Living After Assad..」＠SPACE K 代官山｜トウキョウドキュメンタリーフォト2025

TOKYO DOCUMENTARY PHOTO 2025 will begin on July 4!

This year, I will be exhibiting photos of Syria I took this year at SPACE K Daikanyama. And photojournalist Yoshifumi Kawabata will also exhibit his photos of Afghanistan at the same venue. Please feel free to visit us.

December 8, 2024. The Assad regime, which had been a dictatorship in Syria for many years, collapsed. As I watched the news, I thought, "If I'm going to go, it's now or never!". Then I traveled to Syrian for the first time in my life in this February, about two months after that.

I spent about two weeks in Damascus, Tartus, Latakia, Aleppo, Masyaf, and some other places in Syria, meeting many Syrians, eating Syrian foods, and spending time with them through home stays.

Through these experiences, I began to understand why many people who are familiar with Syria continue to hold a deep affection for the country. With this photo exhibition, I hope to offer a glimpse of that people's love for Syria.

TOKYO DOCUMENTARY PHOTO began in 2017 and is now in its ninth year. This year, the exhibition will be held across four venues.

7月4日より、トウキョウドキュメンタリーフォト2025が始まります！

今回、自身はSPACE K 代官山にて今年撮影したシリアの写真を展示させて頂きます。また、フォトジャーナリストの川畑嘉文さんが同会場でアフガニスタンの写真を展示されます。是非お気軽にご来場ください。

2024年12月8日。長年シリアで独裁体制を敷いてきたアサド政権が崩壊しました。その報道を目にして「行くなら今しかない！」と思い立ち、政変から約2ヶ月経った今年2月に人生で初めてシリアの地を踏みました。

約2週間かけて、ダマスカス、タルトゥース、ラタキア、アレッポ、マスヤーフなどシリア国内の様々な土地を巡り、旅の中で多くのシリア人と出会い、シリア料理を食べ、ホームステイをさせてもらいながら共に過ごしました。

そうした体験を通して、昔からシリアに馴染みのある方の多くが今も「シリア愛」を持っている理由を知りました。今写真展を通してその片鱗に触れてもらいたいと思っています。

2017年より始まりました「TOKYO DOCUMENTARY PHOTO 」は今年で9年目を迎えます。今年は4会場で開催いたします。
